We had a pleasant experience at this hotel. The staff was helpful, rooms were very clean (not a trace of stale smoke). Two childhood friends and I try to meet every year in Chicago and stay at one of the hotels. We enjoyed this very much and hope to stay here again.

Overall a very nice experience with comfortable and clean rooms. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Free wifi in hotel works best in lobby, the coverage was spotty in our room. Parking $*/night. Breakfast buffet in lobby restaurant was not great, so at that price we found better options outside the hotel.

The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza ended up being perfect for us. We worried since it was so much cheaper than the other downtown hotels, but it actually felt very safe and charming. Due to rainy weather, we found using the Brown Subway line from Mart Plaza was most helpful. We could walk indoors from hotel, through the Merchandise Mart, grab a coffee at Dunkin Donuts or at Starbucks and then board the Brown train without getting wet. It was also very easy to take the Blue Line from O'Hara Airport to get to and from the hotel. It's worth paying a little extra for a room with a view, the location offers great views of river and the Hancock Building. The hotel begins at the 15th floor and goes up from there, so we never heard traffic noise, just saw great views. The updated carpets and lobby area made it feel rather upscale for a Holiday Inn. The hotel felt just enough removed from the touristy Michigan Ave, that we were able to enjoy walking to restaurants and along the river. We highly recommend staying at Holiday Inn Mart Plaza.

I've stayed before at this Holiday Inn and enjoyed it. Lately they have undergone a facelift and the lobby looks sleek and modern now. The restaurant has been upgraded and serves an interesting mix of Italian and Asian styles at dinner, though breakfast was overpriced. Rooms remain very comfortable and views spectacular (from the outward-facing rooms), especially from the lobby bar at night. I have to mention the spacious and convenient fitness center. The sole thing that has changed for the worse has nothing to do with the hotel: the enclosed walkway that leads from the hotel building to the Merchandise Mart El stop is now closed on the weekends.

This hotel was a nice surprise. It starts on the 15th floor so the views are beautiful. . Big open lobby with a cozy Sky Bar overlooking the city. The rooms were nice but we didn't spend too much time there. So much to do and see in Chicago and you can walk just about anywhere from this hotel.
